Ocean's Cabinet of Curiosities ππ¦·πͺπ¦π
Some treasures are beautiful. Others are simply fascinating.
Ocean's Cabinet of Curiosities was inspired by my love of finding the unusual things that wash ashore and wondering about the stories they might carry. Most of the pieces in this collection were found by me while beachcombing, each one catching my eye for a different reason.
At the centre is an old Russwin key, worn by time and the sea, with its original stamped markings still visible. I can't help but wonder what it once opened, who carried it, and how it eventually found its way to the shore.
Around it are antique coins, shark teeth, weathered metal, sea pottery, sea glass in whites and seafoam, a crystalline pottery fragment, an old black-purple electrical insulator still attached to its metal casing, and a beautiful septarian nodule showing its PEI red sandstone.
Some are natural treasures, some are remnants of everyday life, and some are simply wonderfully strange.
That is what I love most about beachcombing. You never really know what you're going to find, or what little piece of history might be waiting beneath your feet.
A collection of curiosities, gathered from the shore and brought together in one little cabinet of ocean-worn stories.
You will receive the exact frame and treasures shown in the pictures. Some of my other frames are made to order and some are what you see so please read full descriptions or ask me.

It's summertime here in Prince Edward Island so my newly made sea treasure frames are filled with a combination of new and old finds. My beach-combing collection goes back more than 20 years and even longer for my Mom. I like to rummage through her collection and oftentimes I find shards from the same vessel found years apart.
This frame is filled with real hand-collected sea treasures, not a print.
These colours are considered a rare found objects and each frame has the equivalent of months of collecting along the ocean coast.Β
Great gift idea! Perfect for the cottage or sea-themed wedding.
Please note* some of the shards have been smoothed mainly to remove rust/dirt and the odd sharp edge. This allows the colours and patterns to pop!
Sea Glass Origins: Genuine sea glass and sea pottery originate from fragments of broken bottles, tableware, or even shipwrecks, which are gradually tumbled by the ocean over many years. This natural process can take between 50 to 100 years, during which the fragments are smoothed into their characteristic rounded shapes and the glass acquires a distinctive frosted appearance, resulting from the gradual erosion of its original sheen.
The sea treasures are real therefore they may have minor imperfections and a slightly irregular shape.
